Dear People of God,

The 179th Convention of the Diocese of Indianapolis has elected the Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows as the eleventh Bishop Diocesan.

This event is historic for two reasons:

  • first, because this is the first time in The Episcopal Church that a woman has succeeded a woman as bishop, and
  • second, because this is the first time an African-American woman has been elected a "Bishop Diocesan" (other African-American women have been elected as Assisting or Suffragan Bishops).

Glass Ceiling Shattered!!

We offer our heartfelt prayers of thanksgiving for The Rev. Canon Bruce Gray (who finished a strong second), the Rev. Canon Lance Ousley, and the Revs. Dina van Klaverin and Grace Burton-Edwards.

Thank you all for your prayers!

For information about the new bishop-elect, please see the diocesan website.

Please also make plans now to attend the consecration and seating of our new bishop in Indy on Saturday, April 29, 2017!!
